Technological advances have affected many areas of our lives: the way we communicate, collaborate, learn, and, of course, teach. But what does being a 21st-century teacher really mean and what and how has educational environment changed, students changed?

Whilst collaboration between teachers and students, students and teachers is much talked about and known, the collaboration between students and students and teachers and teachers  to change the role from the passive students to active, on collaboration centered activities,  is quite poorly understood.

Where is the balance between using handouts and  worksheets and using ICT at the lessons? How much does teacher speak at the lesson and what about students? Is the teacher still the main manager (leader) at the lesson? What should be changed at the lessons? How to help teachers to improve their lessons? What is needed to support the teacher (courses, experience, advice, examples)?

Answers to these and many other questions will be given at the end of this project.

An aim of the project is to facilitate a better understanding of how students can better work together to improve their well-being, how teachers can better work together to improve their teaching skills with the use of ICT at the lessons and how to organize the lessons more active and modern where the role of the teacher has changed from the leader to the adviser.

To understand what, exactly, are needs for our schools, there was organized a research among all partner schools, teachers and students. The main objective of the research was to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the learning process and the attitude to use of ICT at the lessons.

1.The schools have a common understanding of modern teaching, there are regularly organized observing and analyzing of the lessons.

2.Classrooms are equipped with modern technology (computers, computer rooms, projectors, interactive whiteboards, document cameras, voting devices, tablets, laptops), most of teachers have the necessary skills to work with them.

3.School promotes cooperation between students and teachers: learning group of teachers, the weekly consultation training for teachers, student council, school board, etc.

1.For a part of teachers it is difficult to change from a dominant position in the classroom to students' collaborative learning process. It is necessary to introduce changes in the classroom.

2.Teachers obtain assurance that the purposeful use of ICT promotes student involvement in the learning process.

3.There is no enough experience to develop meaningful each student's personal development.

4.Teachers are overworked, too busy to experience.

The project aim falls into the several categories and activities for 36 months:

1st year: research teachers' and students' experience and needs to create the teacher's and student's made innovative materials based on open source, experiential, collaborative learning, to create a common place (homepage) to collect the teachers and students' made materials from the partner countries, exchange a good practice by observing lessons, organizing conferences and courses to exchange the experience (teachers' organized courses), students start creating the materials for collaboration, setting up the learning groups for teachers.

2nd year: teachers work in the learning groups, sharing ideas, observing lessons, organizing conferences and courses to exchange the experience (student's organized courses), recording the lessons, creating the examples of different parts of lessons, collecting the materials made by teachers and students, receiving the feedback from students about the learning and teaching process.

3rd year: organizing the international camp-contest for students to show the collaborative skills, there is created a database with materials for students and teachers, organizing an international lessons based on the project method, the motivation of learning and teaching and students' assessments have raised, teachers and students use the materials and gained knowledge in everyday use, research for the gained results.

None of these aims could be achieved without a multi national approach. And the benefits our students gain will add value to European education.

There are 7 partners chosen for the project: Latvia (coordinator), partners: Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Turkey.

The partners from previous projects or training courses were chosen known as hard-working and reliable partners and there were found/chosen the project partners by e-Twining and we shared common objectives in need of new methods in teaching-learning and use of ICT.

The contact was established with the support of international forums of discussions.

One of the unifying factors of the project partners is that in all schools there are studying 12 - 16 year olds, irrespective of sex, origin, social level or abilities.

During the meeting we had a chance to see cultural and historical places  in Manavgat, Side, Antalya, Perge. All the places had the magnificent atmospheres. Some kind of old buildings, mosques, waterfalls, etc… The boat trip will also stay in our minds forever.

Finally we would like to say thanks for the brilliant hotel organized by the Turkish coordinators. The atmosphere during the meeting was kind and friendly.

And a lot of thanks for the host families-all the students were happy and satisfied to live in Turkish houses.

It was a really productive and beneficial meeting for us. It was a kind of memorable experience for all partners. We were kindly welcomed from the very first moment of arriving in Antalya. The project meeting was totally beneficial and successful.  There was a very good integration of the whole group.  We need to say great thanks to the Turkish coordinators- Mehmet and Hasan- for this well organized meeting, the hospitality, the  friendly and warm attitude.
